🏅 The BWCC Monument Series 2026: Ride Your Way Into Club History

There is something special about a ride with a story. In Brereton Wheelers, our history isn’t just kept in old minute books or dusty trophies—it’s etched into the lanes, the canal paths, and the climbs of Staffordshire and beyond.

In 2018, we decided to change how we celebrate success. We moved away from the idea that “winning” only happens on a podium. Instead, we created the BWCC Monument Series: six iconic challenges designed to test your grit, build our community, and honour the legendary rides of our past.

Whether you are a seasoned mile-muncher or a rider looking to push your boundaries for the first time, the 2026 series is calling.

One or All: It’s Your Challenge

The beauty of the Monument Series is that it’s entirely yours to define. There are two ways to play it:

  • The “One & Done” Goal: Pick the one that scares or excites you the most. Maybe it’s the rugged Black Country Loop on the towpaths, or the historic Bosworth Battle. Conquering just one of these is a massive achievement and earns you a place on the club’s roll of honour for the year.
  • The “Full House” Ambition: For those looking for the ultimate 2026 goal, why not aim for all six? Totaling over 460 miles of varied terrain, completing the full series is a testament to your consistency and passion. It’s the ultimate way to see the best of our region and beyond.

The 2026 Calendar

Mark your calendars and start getting those miles in the legs. Every finisher receives a record of their achievement in our Roll of Honour on the website. Along with being recognised at our annual awards evening towards the end of the year.

  • April 19th:
    • Bosworth Battle (67 miles) – A historic start to the season.
  • May 17th:
    • Wrekin Wrap (75 miles) – Tackling the iconic Shropshire slopes.
  • June 14th:
    • Presidents’ Ride (62.5 miles) – A mid-summer classic in honour of club leadership.
  • July 19th:
    • Merry Meriden (89 miles) – A big summer day out to the heart of England.
  • August 16th:
    • Buxton Bounce (95 miles) – Our “Queen Stage.” Inspired by a 1970s club run, this is the big one!
  • Sept 20th:
    • Black Country Loop (75 miles) – Our celebrated off-road monument, navigating the historic canal towpaths of the Midlands.

Why Take Part?

This isn’t about being the fastest. There are no timing chips or finish line photographers. This is about the “Buxton Bounce” of the late ’70s, the charity efforts for Katherine House, and the “Return to Reg” epics. When you ride a Monument, you are following in the wheel-tracks of the members who built this club over the decades.

It’s about the coffee stops, the group encouragement when the legs start to fade, and the shared sense of pride when we roll back into town together.
