Drivetrain Care: Quiet Gears, Longer Component Life

A clean drivetrain feels like free speed. Most shifting problems come from grime, worn chains, or poor cable tension—not “bad gears.”

Routine

  • After wet/dirty rides: wipe chain, lube lightly, wipe again.
  • Every few weeks: deeper clean with degreaser (carefully), then relube.

Maintenance advice

  • Measure chain wear—replacing chains on time saves cassettes.
  • If shifting is off: check hanger alignment and cable tension first.
  • Keep jockey wheels clean; they clog faster than you think.
